Integrated Transportation Hubs on Highway 5
Along Highway 5, three major transportation hubs—Kasem, Tikva, and Morasha—are planned to improve access to the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, including express lanes, multi-level parking, light rail stations, and bicycle infrastructure.
As hydrology and drainage consultants for Electra Infrastructure, Hydrocycle faced the challenge of designing an advanced stormwater management system that integrates with the existing regional drainage network and meets rigorous national and local planning standards.
To tackle this, we conducted detailed hydrological surveys and developed comprehensive drainage solutions that include floodplain regulation, retention reservoirs, and infiltration systems.
Our design aims to optimize stormwater utilization while controlling runoff discharge to prevent flooding and protect natural streams. The project involved close coordination with landscape architects, traffic planners, and multiple public authorities including Mekorot, Israel Railways, and Netivei Israel to ensure seamless integration with wider infrastructure plans.
Despite progressing to Phase B approval, the project was put on hold due to a government budget freeze. Nevertheless, the process enhanced our expertise in large-scale urban drainage design and fostered strong collaboration with key national infrastructure stakeholders.
This project exemplifies Hydrocycle’s ability to deliver sustainable, innovative water management solutions for complex metropolitan infrastructure projects.
